WELCOME TO THE FRIENDS OF HILARY STORM SCHOOL WEBSITE
Friends of Hilary Storm School is registered as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation with the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator. Number SC044018
Transport is urgently needed for the school because at present HS School has no transport of its own and valuable resources are used up paying high prices to transport food, firewood and construction materials into the school.
Friends of HS School have launched an appeal for £20,000 to purchase a 4.5 ton truck this year that will free up funds to help implement other income generating projects including a grinding mill and turkey project.
The truck itself has the potential to generate income as trucks for hire are scarce in Kumi District.
Update received from Steohen Okiror: “construction is in progress and on high gear. We expect that the first slab at 7 feet will be cast by next weekend. The second slab may be cast two weeks later to allow for setting.”
I did deliver and install the plaque sponsored by Lina on the water bore hole pump house and it appears in the photo update attached
Water for the school!
Since Friends of Hilary Storm School was registered as a Scottish Charity in May 2013, £16,000 has been raised which has enabled the implementation of a much needed water proejct for the school. This comprises a water bore hole, pumping system and above ground storage tank. An underground reservoir and guttering for rain water harvesting has also been installed.
So now children no longer have to walk a kilometre to fetch water aand there is sufficient water to meet all needs of the school. Money previously used to buy water will be saved to support education needs and for growing of food. Risks of body strain and injuries are eliminated too.
